Harper Hayes grew up near Austin listening to her mother's classic country records and her father's bar-band guitar playing, and built her sound as an unsigned Texas country artist from there.
A small Texas town, and two very different musical parents
Harper Hayes grew up in a small town near Austin, Texas. Her father worked as a mechanic and played guitar at local bars, while her mother, a schoolteacher, filled the house with classic country records by Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn and George Strait. She is now in her late 20s and records independently, without a label deal, in a Texas country and honky-tonk style.
"Dust on My Wedding Dress" and a rising-artist honor
Her debut album, "Dust on My Wedding Dress" (2026), includes the tracks "Unholy Gospel," "Blue Envelope," "Saturday Yard Sale," "Texas Little Things" and "You & Me." Hayes has not yet charted on Billboard or signed to a label, building her following independently instead.
In 2026, Hayes was named Rising Female Country Artist of the Year by Country Music Awards US, an independent fan-vote awards program in its inaugural year that is not affiliated with the Country Music Association (CMA) or any major industry body.
